I think the only story I've managed to track down in this collection was "The Vivisector Vivisected" by Sir Ronald Ross, which as I recall I found in one of Peter Haining's anthologies. I believe that Haining stated in his introduction that Ross was a Nobel prize winner. I also might possibly have seen one or both of the Machen stories, but I can't remember if they were horror-related.
