Horror and pulp fiction lost one of its unsung heroes with the passing of Bob Rothwell on Boxing Day, 2006. Known to many of us as 'The Duke' on Vault of Evil and 'The Mekon' on Gruesome Cargoes, Bob's passion was for the life and works of Dennis Wheatley. His Dennis Wheatley Tribute is quite the most accomplished single author site I've seen and I'm so glad I got to tell him that before his untimely death. From the early nineties, Bob set out to collect everything Wheatley - not just the several different editions of his novels but magazine or newspaper articles by or about him, reviews, film footage - the lot. I really can't see anybody amassing such a thorough collection again. It's understood that the site and it's forum, The Library will be continued as part of Bob's legacy. For our part, the Wheatley section on Vault has now been dedicated to his memory as some small tribute. Rest In Peace, Bob and thank you.

Happily, after a lengthy absence, The Dennis Wheatley site and the Library are back with a vengeance. Both are fully deserving of our support so, if you've a penchant for the Duc de Richleau, Roger Brook or even the unutterable Conkey Bill, hit the links in the previous post on this thread!

I'm afraid tonight's was my first visit to the Dennis Wheatley site. Naturally I wish I'd done so earlier. The web design is impeccable. I was thinking of course about that Best New Horror epitaph. I'm still not sure. But it's a relief to see that his site has been kept up.

Great site, isn't it? I'm sure the Library would have been more successful if it hadn't been so problem beset. It was just picking up again after the entire board collapsed. This will be the third restart to my knowledge. But, of course, it's so good to see everything back up and working again.
