That was great! Thanks very much for sharing them Cal - there's an incredibly powerful poignancy to the sequence - absolutely wasted on here, so I'm glad to see you've linked them back to Haunted Dolls House. The thing I've taken the most personal satisfaction from in the whole Vault/ Gruesome adventure has been the sheer generosity of spirit shown us by so my sites and boards who I always worried would consider us gormless bandwagon jumpers but there's been nothing but goodwill from the likes of Trash Fiction, Groovy Age, Pulpmania, Bob's Dennis Wheatley Tribute site and, of course, Haunted Dolls House. Along with the new friendships that have come about, it's been very special to me, that. Happy new year to you, Rog. Hope all your dreams come true in 2007.

That was great! Thanks very much for sharing them Cal - there's an incredibly powerful poignancy to the sequence - absolutely wasted on here, so I'm glad to see you've linked them back to Haunted Dolls House. I don't agree that it's wasted on here; this site was absolutely the most appropriate place for that picture for a number of reasons. Usually when I visit here I notice that there are a few guests present. It must be that some of the fiction reviewed here has become so difficult-to-find that we can't always comment on it. Maybe some of that fiction - now public-domain - should be placed alongside the reviews or linked to it. Obviously I'm just turning over ideas here. The Louise Brooks photo and show - and all the slideshows - are now being moved to stand-alone pages at the Dolls House, with just faster-loading picture-links like the one above in the various blogs. I'm thinking of Maurice Renard's The Hands of Orlac with Lorre's Mad Love for the next show, and possibly that one would be at home here, too? I'll stick up other links for them of course. I'm aware that this site is a very personal project. The question is, how much similarly 'related' material would you think is appropriate, and where would it become inappropriate? For instance, would it be appropriate to post the Val Lewton story that appeared in Weird Tales? Or do we stick to Christine Campbell Thomson, Lady Cynthia Asquith, Birkin, etc? But if stuff looks wrong (like that Edmund Hamilton post I did on the Magazine of Horror thread at the Vault), just move it. (I notice that Michele Parry, who Charles found in MySpace recently, lists Lotte Lenya as an interest. Possibly he likes her contemporary Brooks? I'll 'add' him soon Charles, if you don't do it first, don't worry.) The thing I've taken the most personal satisfaction from in the whole Vault/ Gruesome adventure has been the sheer generosity of spirit shown us by so many sites and boards who I always worried would consider us gormless bandwagon jumpers but there's been nothing but goodwill... What bandwagon? As usual I'm astounded that you never seem to grasp what a resource has been created here and at the Vault. There's a lot of time and effort goes into some of our loony projects. The Vault has some content that's knowingly trashy, but if that makes it more accessible, great! ;D Charles, I finally figured out how to do that infuriating racing-text trick after your comment on it elsewhere. I was wondering if it would provide a clue to 'embedding' stuff in posts. It didn't... but I think I can still find some use for it!

Quite right Rog, this is another great board but some of the books & fiction are hard to come by - I've visited a number of times but been unable to contribute. I just don't have the books . But I'm working on it! I think links to any online fiction would be a great idea. Happy 2007 to all ;D

Andy, It could be I'm looking in the wrong places, but I've never been able to find much of this kind of material online - which was maybe my main consideration in doing the site and board. However, a "Where to find the web" thread (new section?) is certainly a good idea and I'll knuckle down to it this week.
Rog, I think that the cinema (and radio) of the day fits in. With Creeps and Not At Night we're talking the 1926-36 period , but obviously, the authors would have been influenced by anything prior to that. Maybe if we put a ceiling on it as the outbreak of WWII?
Let me know .....
