So Pale, So Cold, So Fair (Tandem, 1970) "So Pale, So Cold, So Fair", The Godsend, Rover, Circle Of Children, Lot's Wife, Gideon, The Road, A Haunting Beauty, Lords Of The Refuge. For my wife, Janet, who is allergic to all 'unpleasantness'A Haunting Beauty: Paris. After ending his passionate affair with celebrated dancer Jaqueline Jerot, fabulously wealthy Eugene de Coulieure announces his engagement to a young American beauty, Shirley Stewart. M. Jerot decides the wedding cannot go ahead and, having befriended the girl, deliberately drives their car off the road, throwing herself free at the last moment. As luck would have it, Shirley is thrown onto the path of a train with her head lying just so across the track ... Eugene, deeply suspicious of Jaqueline's culpability in the death of the only woman he's ever loved, still refuses to reunite with her. So our heroine goes for all out nasty to hurt him as much as he has her.

The Price of Fear episode Meeting in Athens is based upon one of Birkin's tales. It can be found on here

Thanks Charles, just downloading it now. I'll try An Eye For An Eye later as well to check if that's the same Birkin story, and I'm also wondering if Is Anybody There? is any relation to his Is There Anybody There?. This is brilliant as I didn't even know there were any adaptations of his work! Many of these were colected in the Vincent Price presented The Price Of Fear (Everest, 1976): Ellin's Speciality Of The House, Rene Basilico's Fish, Burrage's The Waxwork, William Ingram's Blind Man's Buff, Elizabeth Morgan's Lot 132 and Dahl's William And Mary. Actually, box.net itself looks very useful. 1GB of storage for free - I'm sure we could all find a use for that:

Yes, I have to add my thanks here - I found Aickman's Ringing the Changes on the Nightfall page, and I saw Carmilla and The Body Snatcher. And I'll be after any Birkin stories that I can find, too. Nice one, Charles! I guess this is the sort of thing I was waffling about in my previous post - extending this site's scope while retaining its mood. Well, y'know what I mean!

Meeting In Athens is definitely the title story from So Pale, So Cold, So Fair but An Eye for an Eye ain't his if the description on The Monster Club is anything to go by. "A chef creates a fantastic new dish, live octopus. Unfortunately, revenge is on the dessert menu. Starring and hosted by Vincent Price."
